Lee and Joyce Mace not only founded the Ozark Opry in 1953, but at the time, it was the only Opry of it's kind in the United States. For the Lake of the Ozark's, it was the longest running family show in it's history. Lee has been credited for drawing a large amount of attention to the Lake area and anyone who has traveled to the Lake of the Ozarks even within the last 30 years knows that it will serve an an entertainment hot spot for generations to come.
As the area grew, so did the need for a larger, quicker, safer transportation system and the US 54 Expressway was built. In November 2008 a portion of the new expressway was named to honor the man that helped build the city and to not only introduce the Ozarks to the rest of the state, but to a nation. Below you will find several articles related to the Lee Mace Memorial Highway. We hope you enjoy!
